PPI Launch Event
Held online
23 SEP 2021
On Thursday 23rd September 2021, the Pensions Policy Institute (PPI) held a virtual launch event for the seventh edition of its annual DC compendium, “The DC Future Book: in association with Columbia Threadneedle Investments”, setting out available data on the DC landscape alongside commentary, analysis and projections of future trends. Now in its seventh year, The DC Future Book continues to promote a better understanding of the DC market in the UK.
The last year has been a time of great change and volatility in the DC landscape, and any discussion of those changes needs to take account of the ongoing pandemic and the lessons that may be learned going forward. As such, this year’s focus chapter explores the impact of COVID-19 on DC schemes’ investment strategies, with the goal of understanding whether changes made will help schemes to better cope with future market shocks. While this has been the most significant challenge over the last year, we recognise that there have also been many other developments, including, but not limited to, increasing ESG regulation, the introduction of drawdown investment pathways and continued consolidation across the DC market, which are also discussed in the report.
